Dendrobium cucumerinum is a cute miniature species from Australia that looks like tiny pickles. Once included in the genus Dockrillia, all dockrillias were clumped back in with the dendrobiums again. These guys grow best mounted and in moderate to low light.

Dendrobium cucumerinum is an epiphytic herb with creeping stems 3–4 mm (0.1–0.2 in) thick with widely spaced leaves. The leaves are 20–35 mm (0.8–1 in) long, 9–12 m (30–40 ft) wide, thick and fleshy with many irregular bumps on the surface, giving them the appearance of a small cucumber or gherkin.

The dendrobium genus is classified into 5 distinct groups: Dendrobium phalaenopsis, Dendrobium spatulata, Dendrobium latouria, Dendrobium formosae, and simply Dendrobium. Each has their own growing requirements, culture, care, and specific patterns of growth.

Found in Queensland Australia, as a miniature sized, cool to hot growing epiphytic species on river oaks near watercourses at elevations of 50 to 800 meters that has short, cane-like pseudobulbs and cucumber like leaves on a slender creeping rhizome.
